The job
As our Vice President (VP) for Digital, Data & IT (DD&IT) Development - Data Science, you will be responsible for enabling business priorities through tech within the scope of the Data Science area within Development, which focuses on ensuring a smooth, seamless data flow through all stages of the value chain. You will be a leader of senior profiles and subject matter experts, focus-ing on the ideation, execution and operation of digital, data and IT solutions within this area, with a keen focus on relevant digital enablers and scalable infrastructure solutions.

Reporting to the Corporate Vice President (CVP) of DD&IT Development, you will lead a team of ten direct reports and 50+ indirect referrals in a matrix organisation. You will be a valued member of the DD&IT Development Leadership Team and be part of driving strategy development and initia-tives within the Data Science domain. 

This role is based in Søborg, Denmark, but is open to hybrid-location profiles

 

The main responsibilities of the role are:
•    Ensure robust Business Partnership: you will be expected to establish and maintain a value enabling and engaged relationship with the Data Science Business area, enabling the digital strategy of the area aligned to business objectives. You will act as a single point of contact for business development and accountability, as well as uncover opportunities for new value deliveries through digital, data and IT initiatives. You will be accountable for driving tech leadership in a specific business area and closely work together with your leadership counterparts in business on setting the tech direction.
•    Define strategies and set direction for execution: amongst others, you will be responsible for all aspects of short and long term strategy setting within tech enablers and decisions, helping shape strategic business development roadmaps, bridging data analytical sciences and process excellence with technology, and defining appropriate delivery models through agile operational frameworks. This includes developing and operating existing solutions, securing strong quality and compliance within the regulated aspects of the Data Science portfolio, drive optimisation and efficiency, and work with a continuous improvement mindset.
•    Professional Service management: you are expected to build strong relations with business owners and users in Data Science systems through a customer oriented governance structure. You will be accountable for IT operations and “run” activities, ensuring outstanding quality, cost effectiveness and performance, as well as identifying and executing on new service offerings (e.g., Microsoft AI alliance, vendor partnerships, etc.)
•    Leadership: you are a compelling and people centric leader, with a keen focus on managing, motivating, training and developing a team of senior and strategic specialists (architects, programme managers) to achieve strong engagement, talent attraction and development. Proactive and trust based communication with leaders is a must, and you will establish working groups to drive innovation and future oriented capabilities.

 

Qualifications
To ensure success in this role, you are expected to show a proven track record of the following functional and leadership skills:
•    MSc, MBA or similar within Information Technology, Computer Science, Clinical Development, Bioinformatics or any related discipline.
•    10+ years of experience managing digital, data and IT organisations in large corporations and regulated industries. 
•    10+ years of experience delivering digital solutions and IT practices through strategy development, execution and maintenance.
•    Proven experience working in business partnering roles, managing senior stakeholders in highly complex organisations.
•    Strong knowledge of Clinical Development with a focus on data science and analytics deliveries. 
•    Strong leadership capabilities and experience working in matrix organisations, where business development, change management and communication are crucial skills. 
•    Good coaching skills to lead senior experienced profiles, along with the energy and flexibility to manage shifting priorities. 
•    Fluent in English, both written and spoken. 

 

About the department
Digital, Data & IT (DD&IT) Development employs 250 people across Denmark, India and Poland, and is responsible for driving digitalisation across the value chain within Development (R&D), from clinical trial design to execution, reporting, and regulatory submissions, with the mission to bring innovative products to our patients faster.

In this role, you will work as an integrated partner to Development, Data Science, which employs over 1,000 people that drive data creation, collection, curation and analysis, contributing to the discovery and development of innovative healthcare solutions.
