The job
As our Vice President (VP) for Digital, Data & IT (DD&IT) Development Global Trial Portfolio (GTP) and Clinical Supplies (CS), you will be responsible for enabling and executing on tech solutions within the domain of clinical operations, to strengthen Novo Nordisk’s planning and execution of clinical trials through a  focus on excellence, optimisation and digitalisation. You will be a leader of senior profiles and subject matter experts to ensure successful delivery with a strong focus on business partnering, strategic business objectives, delivery and execution, as well as collaboration across the business and portfolio.

Reporting to the Corporate Vice President (CVP) of DD&IT Development, you will lead a team of at eight direct reports and 50+ indirect referrals in a matrix organisation. You will be a valued member of the DD&IT Development Leadership Team, and drive strategy development and initiatives within the Development (R&D) area. 

This role is based in Søborg, Denmark, but is open to hybrid location applicants.

 

The main responsibilities of the role are:
•    Ensure robust Business Partnerships: proactive lead the relationship between DD&IT, GTP and Clinical Supplies (in CMC) through the strategic business objectives of the area. You will be a key contributor in the definition and execution of the digital strategy of the area, delivering through a balanced focus on efficiency, speed of delivery, and compliance. You will form strong and trust based relationships with leaders across GTP and CMC, our clinical organisations, leveraging senior stakeholders in the delivery of complex digital initiatives.
•    Define strategies and set direction for execution: amongst others, you will be a key contributor to strategic business development, bridging clinical operations and process excellence with technology, and defining appropriate delivery models through agile operational frameworks. This includes developing and operating existing solutions, securing strong quality and compliance, drive optimisation and efficiency, and work with a continuous improvement mindset.
•    Professional Service management: this role is founded on strong relations with business owners and users of GTP and CS systems through a customer oriented governance structure. You will be accountable for IT operations and run deliveries, ensuring outstanding quality, cost effectiveness and performance. 
•    Leadership: you will manage, motivate, train and develop a team of senior and strategic specialists (architects, programme managers) to achieve strong engagement, talent attraction and development. Proactively and trust based communication with leaders and colleagues is a must, and you will drive working groups to strengthen innovation and future oriented capabilities.

 

Qualifications
To ensure success in this role, you are expected to show a proven track record of the following functional and leadership skills:
•    MSc, MBA or similar within Information Technology, Computer Science, Clinical Development, Bioinformatics or any related discipline.
•    10+ years of experience managing digital, data and IT organisations in large corporations and regulated industries. 
•    10+ years of experience delivering digital solutions and IT practices through strategy development, execution and maintenance.
•    Proven experience working in business partnering roles, managing senior stakeholders in highly complex organisations.
•    Strong knowledge of clinical trial execution, with a focus on clinical operations deliveries. 
•    Strong leadership capabilities and experience working in complex matrix organisations, where business development, change management and communication are crucial skills. 
•    Good coaching skills to lead senior experienced profiles, along with the energy and flexibility to manage shifting priorities. 
•    Fluent in English, both written and spoken. 

 

About the department
Digital, Data & IT (DD&IT) Development employs 250 people across Denmark, India and Poland, and is responsible for driving digitalisation across the value chain within Development (R&D), from clinical trial design to execution, reporting, and regulatory submissions, with the mission to bring innovative products to our patients faster.

This area works as an integrated partner towards Development, Global Trial Portfolio (GTP) and Clinical Supplies to enable the success of Development by driving operational excellence and innovation in the execution of timely, cost efficient, best in class clinical operations activities.
