Are you passionate about automation and eager to shape the future of operational excellence? We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to implement and optimise advanced automation solutions that support critical processes at our Site TI. In this role, you will combine deep technical expertise with collaboration across functions to drive innovation and compliance.

 

Your new role

As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining automation solutions for production lines and intralogistics that support scientific programmes and operational efficiency. You will work independently on complex tasks while collaborating closely with business and IT stakeholders. The position is currently anchored in a project setup and is expected to transition into an operational role within a few years.

  • Design, implement and maintain automation solutions, including both hardware and software, aligned with business needs and technical standards
  • Analyse and optimise existing scientific and operational processes to identify automation opportunities and improve efficiency
  • Build, maintain and validate automation systems to ensure reliability, quality and regulatory compliance
  • Act as a technical expert and trusted advisor, collaborating with stakeholders across business, IT and engineering
  • Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the automation area

 

Your new department

You will be joining the organization Fill & Finish Expansions (FFEX). The area is anchored in Global Manufacturing & Supply (GMS), which globally employ approximately 38.000 of Novo Nordisk’s total 65,000 employees. Fill & Finish Expansions is responsible for designing, plan and build all major fill & finish expansion projects across GMS to serve the needs of millions of patients. We do it by rethinking our fill & finish facilities with the use of modern technology. We are setting the standards for the future, designing facilities we will still be proud of many decades from now. Fill & Finish Expansions has a global approach, where you will be working with multiple sites and cultures across the world.

Novo Nordisk is expanding our global manufacturing footprint in Tietgenbyen in Odense, Denmark, to meet the increasing demand for current and future treatments in serious chronic diseases. This presents an exciting challenge and an opportunity to make a lasting impact.

 

Once the facility in Odense is in operation and final approvals have been obtained, it will become part of Novo Nordisk’s global network of manufacturing facilities of finished products delivering medicine to millions of patients worldwide. 

 

You will join GMS IT – DPME – TI - FFEx, part of the Digital & IT organisation. The department is responsible for ensuring a strong and reliable IT/OT foundation supporting Site TI operations. You will collaborate closely with the local IT/OT team, global GITO functions, engineering, operations, external support teams and vendors, contributing to stable operations and continuous improvements. Within the next few years, the role will transition from project-based work to operations.

Your skills and qualifications

To succeed in this role, you bring solid experience in automation engineering and a structured, collaborative way of working.

  • Master of Science or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience within automation engineering, including hardware and software development
  • Strong technical skills within PLC and HMi technology and programming, and automation platforms in general.
  • Experience working in regulated environments with system validation and compliance requirements
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as in cross‑functional teams
  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English and Danish

Salary: For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from 651,000 to 956,900 DKK (DK), corresponding to the level of the position.
The placement within the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on the candidate’s skills, competencies, knowledge, and relevant experience.

 

Incentives and Benefits: The salary package may include short-term and/or long-term incentives as well as other employee benefits based on position level, location, functional area and relevant market benchmarks.
