In this position, your mission will be advancing sustainability through integration, data-driven insights, and cross-functional projects. Your responsibilities will combine leadership, strategy, and data expertise to drive decision-making and ensure operational excellence. Working at the intersection of environmental, social, and governance priorities, you will oversee ESG forecasting and reporting, drive cross-organisational activities, and lead a talented team toward delivering on bold sustainability goals.

 

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of six ESG experts
  • Create and drive cross-functional ESG strategies that integrate sustainability into critical business decisions and ensure operational excellence
  • Ensure stakeholder alignment by focusing on communication, buy-in, and collaboration within and outside the team
  • Oversee ESG forecasting and reporting while developing and implementing best practices in ESG data management and quality to deliver ambitious but achievable sustainability targets

 

In addition to the above responsibilities, you will be responsible for driving change management in the organisation, ensuring support for ESG initiatives, and collaborating effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Acting as the organisation’s go-to expert for ESG data and strategy, you will provide analytical insights and operational roadmaps to advance the company’s sustainability leadership.

 

Candidate profile

We are seeking a driven leader with a strong background in sustainability, analytics, and people management. The ideal candidate will possess a unique ability to harness ESG data and transform it into actionable insights that drive organisational progress.

 

To be successful in this position, we imagine you meet most of the following requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. business, data science, economics or engineering) paired with proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and develop a team while driving accountability and high performance
  • Expertise in sustainability data analysis, forecasting, and target-setting, with experience transforming metrics into impactful business insights, ideally gained from leading strategy consultancies or within large corporate organisations
  • Strategic project management skills, particularly in cross-functional ESG or sustainability initiatives
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills to manage alignment across diverse priorities and teams
  • A detail-oriented, innovative mindset that thrives on problem-solving and driving meaningful change
  • Experience working with analytics tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI, Python, SQL or similar would be an advantage

 

About the department

ESG Data & Strategy has the purpose of advancing sustainability in Novo Nordisk through integration, data-driven insights and decision-making, and cross-functional strategic projects. The team consists of 6 diverse colleagues ranging from data experts to strategy consultants. Situated in the area Quality, IT, and Environmental Affairs, ESG Data & Strategy works across the whole value chain of Novo Nordisk to advance sustainability - both on environmental, social and governance topics.
