General Manager Greece & Cyprus
Job description
.
Are you ready to lead a country organisation at a defining moment for healthcare? Can you turn ambition into impact for millions of patients living with serious chronic diseases? Then this is your chance to shape the future of Novo Nordisk in Greece and Cyprus – setting the strategy, building the team, and driving sustainable growth across two dynamic markets. Read on and apply today for a life-changing career.
Your new role
As General Manager for Greece and Cyprus, you will set the strategic direction for Novo Nordisk in both markets and lead the affiliate to deliver on – and beyond – our short- and long-term business targets. You will inspire a cross-functional team to drive market share growth, optimise resource allocation, secure market access, and bring innovations to the patients and consumers who need them most.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Setting the affiliate strategy in line with the overall Novo Nordisk and Business Area (BA) East priorities, ensuring market share growth, the right positioning of our portfolio, optimal resource allocation, and (over)achievement of operational profit.
- Driving organisational transformation and introducing new ways of working that strike the right balance between a patient and a consumer-like mindset, while fostering innovation and outstanding launch execution.
- Securing and maintaining market access across the product portfolio – setting the strategy for external relationships and supervising negotiations on pricing and reimbursement with key authorities.
- Building and maintaining strong, trusted relationships with key external stakeholders, including medical, payer, government, commissioning authorities, and B2B leads, and representing Novo Nordisk in front of local authorities and KOLs across all therapeutic areas.
- Leading, inspiring and developing the affiliate team – attracting and retaining top talent, driving a high-performance culture, and growing people and teams to grow the business.
- Acting as legal and statutory representative of the affiliate and ensuring full compliance with Novo Nordisk policies, the Novo Nordisk Way, local legislation, ethical standards, the local Quality Management System and PPA approvals.
- Contributing as a member of the BA East management team to wider regional strategy and decision-making.
Your new department
As part of International Operations (IO), you will join our largest operational unit. Covering 194 countries and 95% of the world's population, more than 18,000 of us work passionately to serve 35 million patients each day. With a promise to outperform the competition, we continue to be the growth driver for Novo Nordisk, and to improve health at scale across the globe.
Within IO, BA East encompasses diverse and dynamic markets where we're expanding access to life-changing treatments. It includes 22 markets: elevated affiliates: Poland, Romania, Czechia, Hungary, Austria, Greece & Cyprus, Serbia and Ukraine as well as Cluster East and its countries: Croatia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Latvia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, and Moldova.
As General Manager for Greece & Cyprus, you will report to Vice President (VP), BA East and lead and you will also be part of the BA East Leadership Team. The position is based in Athens, Greece.
Your skills & qualifications
We are looking for an ambitious, people-centred leader who combines commercial sharpness with the integrity and resilience to lead a country organisation through transformation. You will likely bring:
- A master’s degree in business, Marketing or equivalent; advanced marketing/business qualifications and sales experience are desirable.
- Proven leadership experience within the pharmaceutical industry is required. Exposure to consumer-driven organisations (e.g. FMCG) is highly valued, with a preference for candidates who combine both healthcare and consumer-sector experience – across functions such as sales, marketing or business development, in dynamic international environments. Solid general management experience or a strong understanding of it is essential.
- Solid people management experience – including recruiting, coaching, mentoring, talent development, succession and performance management – with a track record of building high-performing, engaged teams.
- Deep knowledge of the current dynamics of the national market and healthcare system, combined with strong stakeholder management, business acumen and experience in change management.
- Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to impact without formal authority and to establish networks with internal and external stakeholders. A solution-focused, "can-do" mindset, resilience, and a strong understanding of agility and growth mindset concepts.
- Fluency in written and spoken English, and willingness and ability to travel regularly within the country, across BA countries and beyond.
