Your new role

As a Communications Specialist, you'll play a central role in strengthening Novo Nordisk's reputation and brand visibility across South Africa. Working closely with the Communications Manager, you'll develop and execute internal and external communication strategies that connect with diverse audiences – from media and government bodies to our own employees and community partners.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development and execution of corporate and brand communication strategies that strengthen our reputation and ensure consistent messaging across all channels
  • Managing media relations by working with our PR partners to ensure accurate, timely coverage
  • Creating and managing engaging content across corporate channels, including social media, newsletters, website copy, and corporate materials that reflect our values and brand voice
  • Delivering internal communications and maintaining our SharePoint platform to keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with corporate priorities
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement activities by developing communication materials for events, campaigns, and programmes aimed at fostering positive relationships with communities, investors, and partners
  • Monitoring and analysing communication performance and media coverage to identify trends, opportunities, and insights that inform future strategies
  • Coordinating communications planning, approvals, and governance to ensure all deliverables meet deadlines and follow brand standards

Within International Operations, the Market Access & Corporate Affairs team plays a vital role in shaping how Novo Nordisk is perceived and ensuring our voice is heard by the audiences that matter most. We're a collaborative team that works across functions – from leadership and marketing to regulatory affairs – to tell our story authentically and build trust with external and internal stakeholders alike.

Your skills & qualifications

We're looking for a Communications Specialist who thrives in a dynamic environment and has a passion for strategic storytelling. You'll bring with you:

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a similar role, with a proven track record in crafting impactful messaging for external audiences including media, internal stakeholders, and community stakeholders
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages tailored to diverse audiences
  • Strong stakeholder engagement expertise and the ability to build positive relationships with communication and PR agencies, internal stakeholders, patient advocacy groups and other external stakeholders
  • Experience in social media management, content creation across multiple channels, and the ability to repurpose content for different formats and audiences
  • Strategic thinking capabilities and analytical skills to monitor communication performance and use insights to inform future strategies
  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to tailor communication approaches to resonate with diverse social contexts
  • Creativity and innovation in developing campaigns that address social and health challenges while promoting our reputation
  • Collaborative and teamwork-oriented, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams

Experience in a multi-national environment, social media design, and Veeva Vault would be beneficial.
