Your new role

As a Data Engineer, you will work hands-on with cutting-edge technologies and play a key role in shaping how data creates impact across CS and the Chemistry, Manufacturing & Control (CMC) organisation.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and own scalable batch and streaming data pipelines
  • Develop and maintain data infrastructure in a modern cloud-native setup
  • Implement and evolve data models based on medallion architecture principles
  • Solve real-world data challenges with a strong focus on quality, performance and reliability
  • Work hands-on with technologies such as Databricks, Python, PySpark, SQL, Git, Kafka, Terraform and more.


To succeed in this role, you build high-quality data services and enjoy working in a fast-moving, collaborative environment. You like solving complex problems, care about reliability and are always curious about better ways of doing things.

Your work will directly support the planning, packing, and distribution of clinical trial supplies to patients in more than 50 countries. By building reliable, scalable data solutions, you help ensure that critical clinical trials run smoothly and on time - making a tangible difference for patients worldwide.

 

Your skills and qualifications

We are looking for someone who holds a master’s degree in computer science, engineering, Data Science or related field. Professional experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, software engineering with a data focus is a prerequisite. You also bring:

  • Solid experience working with Python for data processing.
  • Comfort working with Git in a collaborative development workflow.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational data.
  • Experience working in cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • A proactive, continuous-learning mindset

It is an advantage if you have experience with or interest in:

    •   Databricks
    •   Azure Data Lake / Delta Lake for efficient storage and processing of big data
    •   Streaming or event-driven architectures
    •   Data governance, lineage, and access management
    •   Apache Spark / PySpark
    •   Data modelling and transformation concepts
    •   CI/CD practices

As part of CMC Product and Process Development, CS makes a real difference for patients with chronic diseases across the world. We pack and distribute products to clinical trials in more than 50 countries ensuring timely supply to patients. The CMC CS area consists of approx. 300 employees organised in 4 departments working closely together sharing a strong focus on patients throughout the area.

In CS digital solutions department we deliver end to end capabilities across data engineering, business intelligence, advanced analytics and AI-driven automation. We are responsible for developing and operating data platforms and solutions that support clinical operation globally – ensuring reliable, scalable and high-quality data flows across the value chain.
