Your new role
Operating in digitally enabled environment, the private obesity sector in UK serves more than 3 million patients; this role offers an exciting opportunity to shape medical strategy and impact at scale in one of the organisation’s highest‑priority growth areas.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Leading the medical strategy and operational execution within the private obesity arena, acting as the “medical voice” of Novo Nordisk in this space.
- Building and nurturing strategic partnerships with chief medical officers and medical directors in private healthcare to optimise patient outcomes
- Be the subject matter expert on obesity and Novo Nordisk products facilitating scientific discussions and providing expert medical input across the organisation, from clinical research to market access and commercial teams
- Driving real-world evidence generation and coordinating national publication strategies to build a robust evidence base
- Serving as the medical signatory for the organisation and lead on assessment and decision making of various projects and activities to ensure full complaince with ABPI code of practice.
- Overseeing the local Product Development Plan by gathering insights and managing cross-functional collaboration to address UK market requirements
- Representing the UK in global forums, exchanging insights and best practices to shape obesity care internationally
Your new department
You'll sit within the affiliate Medical Affairs unit, reporting to the Associate Director, Medical Affairs Metabolic & Private. This is a national role where you'll work at the intersection of science and strategy, collaborating across clinical research, regulatory affairs, health technology assessment, and commercial teams. You'll be at the forefront of developing Novo Nordisk's presence in the private obesity sector—a dynamic and rapidly evolving space where your expertise will directly shape how we serve patients and healthcare professionals.
Your skills & qualifications
We're looking for a strategic medical leader with deep scientific credibility and the ability to build meaningful partnerships. You'll bring:
- Advanced scientific qualification such as GMC registered Medical Doctor, or UK registered pharmacist
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry in equivalent role, owning the medical strategy and execution.
- Disease Area Expertise. Knowledge and experience in obesity, diabetes, cardiometabolic or related diseases is required for the role.
- UK Healthcare landscape knowledge and previous experience, including firm understanding of the ABPI Code of Practice and relevant regulations.
- ABPI final medical signatory certification. Candidates without signatory status may be considered if strong in other areas and trainable
This role is as Individual contributor, however successful candidate will demonstrate strong personal and professional leadership, with the ability to influence, collaborate and build trust across the organisation. They will be an effective communicator, capable of translating scientific expertise into clear, compelling messages and confident in facilitating discussions at senior level. The role requires adaptability, resilience and a proactive mindset, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and adjust quickly in a fast‑evolving environment.
