Your new role

As the Senior Director of Clinical Data Science, you will:

  • Lead the clinical data science strategy by driving innovation in statistical programming methodologies and tools.
  • Identify and implement advanced programming techniques and technologies, promoting continuous improvement in programming processes and workflows.
  • Lead statistical programming strategy and execution for clinical development projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, fit-for-purpose programming deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with global regulatory requirements and industry standards, maintaining data integrity and quality in all programming deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including e.g. Biostatistics, Data Management, and Clinical Reporting, to support efficient clinical trial planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Manage and develop statistical programming teams and resources, recruiting, mentoring, and building a high-performing team.
  • Provide expert guidance on statistical programming for regulatory  submissions, ensuring deliverables meet submission requirements and supporting responses to regulatory queries.
  • Drive innovation by introducing automated workflows, adopting cutting-edge software solutions, and integrating machine learning and artificial intelligence tools to enhance data driven decision making.

 

Your new department

In Research and Development, you will be part of a unit that explores bold scientific ideas and advances them into clinical testing. We combine curiosity, AI tools, and human data to develop transformative therapies. Through collaboration and operational excellence, we shape and deliver an innovative pipeline to meet future patient needs.

 

You will be heading the Clinical Data Science department within Global Trial Portfolio. The department is responsible for all programming deliverables from the initial planning of clinical trials to reporting, authority submission and beyond. The department delivers insights across all development projects at Novo Nordisk.  You will also be a key member of the Clinical Data Management and Programming leadership team.  The Senior Director reports to the Vice President of Clinical Data Management and Reporting. The position is based in Søborg, Denmark, with 10 direct reports and an organisation of approximately 150 people, 40% of whom are in Denmark and 60% in Bangalore, India. The atmosphere is dynamic and collaborative, with a strong focus on process alignment, optimisation, and competency development for the future. Travel to our sites in Denmark and India is to be expected.

 

Your skills and qualifications

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional who can demonstrate the following:

  • An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in statistical programming within clinical development in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • At least 5 years proven leadership experience driving transformation in a cross-functional and cross-regional setting.
  • Strong expertise in clinical trial data analysis, regulatory submissions (including Q&A), and programming standards (e.g., CDISC SDTM and ADaM).
  • Solid understanding of the drug development process, including global regulatory requirements and GxP.
  • Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence tools.
  • Experience with introducing innovative programming solutions, such as automated workflows and machine learning tools.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional and cross-regional teams.
  • A track record of successfully managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to align statistical programming strategies with R&D goals.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills to articulate complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
