The position
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Communications Manager to lead our external communications initiatives within the People & Organisation department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies that effectively promote the company's image and products, as well as nurturing strong relationships with external stakeholders. This role will ensure a cohesive and impactful approach to engaging with both the media and the broader public, with a specific emphasis on disease areas and promoting the company's value proposition.

The position will be at the forefront of managing corporate communications and responding swiftly to emerging situations. The role will contribute to impactful and influential disease awareness campaigns that positively resonate with diverse audiences and drive tangible results for the business. 

The ideal candidate will showcase a clear vision when engaging with media and stakeholders, humanize complex issues, and safeguard the company's reputation while creating a compelling and ambitious vision. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to demonstrate the impact of successful media engagement on the affiliate business goals. 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Strategic Communication Planning and Execution: Develop and articulate the affiliate communication vision, strategy, and goals in alignment with the overall business objectives. Provide strategic counsel to the executive leadership team on communication matters and reputation management. 
  • Media Relations: Devise and execute strategic media engagement plans to enhance the company's visibility, reputation, and brand positioning. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key journalists, editors, and media outlets. Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries. Create and distribute press releases, media kits, and other materials to enhance the company's visibility and brand image, emphasizing disease-specific initiatives and the company's value proposition.
  • Commercial Communication: Plan and Lead implementation of affiliate commercial communications programmes. Provide consultancy service and advice in connection with projects and activities across the affiliate that affect commercial communications. Develop multi-year commercial communications engagement plan and actively drive programmes to engage patients and raise Novo Nordisk profile in the media through media and other platforms. 
  • Corporate Messaging: Work closely with leadership to develop and refine corporate messages that align with the company's business objectives and values. Ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels, both internal and external.
  • Issues Management, Media training & Monitoring:  Monitor and analyse media coverage to assess the company's image, industry trends, and competitor activities. Offer regular insights to the executive team regarding media sentiment, emerging issues, and opportunities for proactive media engagement. Develop and implement issues management strategies to effectively manage and mitigate reputational risks. Establish affiliates rapid response protocols for addressing issues during issues. 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Marketing. A master’s degree in a related field is a plus point.
  • 7+ years of experience in working in public relations, external communications, corporate branding, or a related field. Experience in crisis communication, issues management, and public affairs. Experiences in disease-specific communications & awareness campaigns are preferred. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to articulate disease-specific information and the company's value proposition effectively. Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with media contacts, industry influencers, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in utilizing various communication channels and tools, including social media platforms, content management systems, and media monitoring software, with a specific emphasis on disease-specific content, value messaging, and perception management.
