About the department
You will be part of the Legal, Compliance, and Quality (LCQ) department at Novo Nordisk Indonesia, reporting directly to the LCQ Director and closely connected to the APAC LCQ regional team. Based in Jakarta, the LCQ team plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the organization’s operations by ensuring that all business activities are conducted with the highest standards of legal integrity, business ethics, and regulatory compliance.

The position
As the Senior Legal & Compliance Manager, you will manage legal affairs (including litigation/disputes) and compliance activities across the affiliate. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure comprehensive Business Ethics Compliance across the Indonesia affiliate by developing and enhancing monitoring processes, conducting internal controls, and leading investigations in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Implement and recommend systems to uphold compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and internal operational procedures as well as other policies throughout the organization.
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage various contracts while reviewing legal documents related to trade, finance, and operations to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide pragmatic legal advice on contract interpretation and other various legal and compliance matters, ensuring execution of contracts aligns with local laws and other applicable legislations or requirements.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert and liaison for compliance risk management, offering guidance on business ethics and compliance issues, while driving the local Compliance Programme and supporting effective initiative implementation.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized institution (LL.M or equivalent preferred) and a member of a legal bar or society.
  • Minimum 10 years of legal experience with 2–3 years as an in-house counsel in the pharmaceutical, chemical, life sciences, or medical device industry. Prior experience in tier-one law firm is also an added advantage.
  • Strong expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, management, and providing pragmatic legal counsel.
  • In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations, business transactions, and business ethics compliance (e.g. FCPA, UK Anti-Bribery Act).
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English; experience in a tier-one law firm is a plus.
