Turn complex data into insights and AI solutions that help develop and deliver life changing medicines. Across three global rotations, you’ll build your technical expertise and solve real world challenges, specialising in data science for either research and development or manufacturing.
The Data Science Graduate Programme is a two-year opportunity to develop your data science and AI expertise while contributing to Novo’s purpose of driving change for lasting health.
You will complete three global rotations within one of two streams:
- Research & Development (R&D): Apply data science and AI to scientific, clinical and biomedical challenges. You will build your understanding of medicine development and learn to translate complex data into reliable insights that support scientific decisions.
- Global Manufacturing & Supply (GMS): Apply data science and AI to manufacturing and supply challenges. You will develop your manufacturing knowledge and learn to build reliable analytical solutions that support production processes and operational decisions and delivery.
Both streams combine programming, statistical modelling, machine learning and data engineering with domain knowledge and project delivery. Depending on your assignments, you may work with Python, R, SQL, AWS, and Databricks. You will collaborate with technical and non-technical colleagues, gain international experience and build an understanding of Novo’s value chain. Your assignments and locations will reflect business priorities and your development needs.
Each stream offers a different journey, with rotations that builds on your experience and help you take increasing responsibility.
Research & Development
Your journey could include:
1. Drug Discovery, Denmark: Apply statistical modelling and machine learning to scientific or clinical data supporting medicine development.
2. Clinical trials, London, UK: Apply AI and machine learning to clinical data and generate insights for development teams.
3. Real-World Evidence, R&D, Denmark: Analyse real world health data to generate evidence on how medicines perform in clinical practice and support research and development decisions.
Global Manufacturing & Supply
Your journey could include:
1. Business Support, Denmark: Work as a data scientist, turning operational data into insights and analytical solutions that support business planning and decision making.
2. Production, US: Work closely with shop floor teams to understand manufacturing processes and apply data science to challenges involving production performance, quality or predictive maintenance.
3. Enterprise AI, Denmark: Work with supply chain data to develop scalable analytical and AI solutions that support planning and operational decisions.
The specific locations and assignments will vary, but each rotation is designed to broaden your perspective and demonstrate the impact of data science across the pharmaceutical value chain.
You will gain hands-on experience applying data science and AI to meaningful challenges, while developing your skills in programming, modelling, data engineering and cloud technologies.
In R&D, you will build scientific understanding and learn to apply advanced analytics and responsible AI to medicine development. In GMS, you will build manufacturing understanding and learn how to develop and deploy reliable solutions in production environments.
Both streams will strengthen your communication, stakeholder management and project delivery skills. You will receive training, support from a senior mentor and opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues.
Through your rotations and the global graduate community, you will build an international network and develop the skills, judgement and experience needed for a long-term career at Novo.
We are looking for early career talent ready to grow with us. To join the programme, you must meet the following requirements:

- Be available to start full-time on 1 September 2027
- Have international experience from studying, working or living abroad for at least six months
- Have relevant experience from student jobs or internships.
- Have a foundation in Python or R, statistics, and machine learning or scientific computing, with evidence of building and testing models or data products.
- Have no more than one year of full-time work experience between or after completing your master's degree
- Be professionally fluent in English
- Be globally mobile
You are curious, adaptable and eager to learn. You bring an engineering mindset, take ownership of your work and apply critical thinking when facing unfamiliar challenges. You enjoy collaborating across cultures and disciplines and want to build a career applying data science and AI in healthcare.
Additionally, for the R&D stream, relevant degrees include Data Science, Quantitative Sciences, Computational Life Sciences or related fields. You should demonstrate R&D experience through academic research, a Master’s project, thesis, student job or internship. Examples include scientific or clinical data analysis, bioinformatics, computational science or experimental design.
Additionally, the GMS stream, relevant degrees include Data Science, Quantitative Sciences, Engineering or related fields. You should demonstrate manufacturing experience through academic projects, research, student jobs or internships. Examples include manufacturing analytics, industrial automation, digital manufacturing, data engineering or AI deployment in a production context.
You are welcome to apply for more than one track. However, we recommend you to carefully consider which tracks you will apply for and your motivation for doing so. You will have to make an individual application for each programme track and we encourage you to only apply for the tracks that you would be truly excited to join.
Be yourself and share why Novo Nordisk is the company you want to work for. What motivates you and why do you think being a graduate could be amazing. We would like to know who YOU are.
No, our corporate language is English, so speaking Danish is definitely not a requirement. There may be local language requirements for some International Operations (IO) tracks.
Yes, as long as you plan to graduate before the start of the Graduate programme. It is also accepted if you have not received your official graduate diploma before starting in the Graduate Programme, as long as you have finished your studies and are just waiting for the official papers.
This position is designed as an entry-level role, and while many graduates join the program directly after their studies, we also consider candidates with up to one year of post-graduate experience.
Previous pharmaceutical work experience is not a requirement to apply for the programme.
For the Global tracks you will be employed by our HQ organisation and most of the positions will start in Denmark, except for Global Tax, where you will commence your rotations in either Denmark, US or in one of our International Operations locations globally.
For the International Operations tracks you will be employed in one of our specified hiring countries for 2026, where you will undertake your first rotation.
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be offered a position in Novo Nordisk, therefore full mobility and flexibility is required as the location is not pre-determined.
