At Novo, environmental responsibility is closely connected to our purpose. The choices we make when designing products influence their environmental impact throughout their life cycle.

By embedding circularity from the start, we focus on eliminating waste and pollution early, using fewer and less harmful materials, keeping products and materials in use for longer where possible and enabling better recovery of resources at the end of life. Circularity also helps regenerate and restore nature by improving ecosystems within our value chain. In this way, circularity is not separate from health — it is part of how we contribute to healthier people, a healthier society and a more resilient future.

Our ambition is to embed circular design principles into how we develop products and operate processes, ensuring that environmental impacts are considered at an early stage, systematically assessed and managed across the full product life cycle.

All new products assessed by Circular Product Design Framework and Life Cycle Assessments covering top 30-selling products by end 2027.

Our Circular Product Design Framework focuses on reducing environmental impacts through product and process design.

We prioritise materials with less environmental impact, while reusing and recycling what we can to minimise production waste.

This approach is closely connected to our environmental priorities: reducing emissions, protecting nature and rethinking chemistry.

As a global healthcare company, we recognise that collaboration is essential to advancing circularity in healthcare. That is why we joined the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) to further develop the Global Circularity Protocol, helping to advance the way circularity is measured and targets are set across value chains.
