Diabetes affects an estimated 830 million people worldwide¹ — and more than 1 billion people worldwide are living with obesity.² WHO recommends the use of GLP-1’s as part of the solution to the rising obesity and diabetes challenge, yet millions of people in need cannot access the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term care they need. Only 1 in 10 people are projected to have access to the treatment they need by 2030³, and only 5 in 10 of those who rely on insulin can obtain it consistently.⁴
The barriers are complex: medicines may be unavailable or unaffordable, health workers may lack the support and training they need, and health systems may not have the capacity to deliver integrated care at scale. The reality is that these access gaps fall heaviest on underserved communities.
Access for Better Health exists to change that.
Access for Better Health is Novo’s platform for accelerating equitable access to treatment for underserved people — strengthening health systems with evidence-based solutions that can be sustained and scaled – to reach more people in need.
Our ambition is to reach more than 10 million underserved people with diabetes and obesity care products by 2030.
