We believe that driving change in serious chronic diseases begins with listening to people with lived experiences. Our Patient Charter outlines our commitment to partnering with patients and Patient Organisations in a way that is ethical, transparent, and anchored in our core values. It defines how we engage – always with purpose, integrity, respect, and with a focus on improving quality of life and patient experience.

We are committed to driving change to defeat serious chronic diseases. For more than 100 years, we have been translating the unmet medical needs of people living with serious chronic diseases into innovative medicines and delivery systems. Alongside our partners, we are pioneering scientific breakthroughs, expanding equitable access to healthcare, and working to modify, prevent, and ultimately cure diseases affecting hundreds of millions of people around the world.
Partnerships and collaboration with Patient Organisations and patients are essential to our purpose of driving change to defeat serious chronic diseases. These connections provide us with valuable insights into how chronic diseases affect the lives of people living with them, and the barriers that patients encounter to receiving optimal care and outcomes. From early research and development through to healthcare system delivery and access, we place the lived experience at the centre of our decisions and solutions:

Our five guiding principles act as anchors in the way we approach and engage with patients and Patient Organisations, and are underpinned by our key values outlined in the Novo Nordisk Way.
1. Driven by the Novo Nordisk Way
We are led by our values to ensure all engagement is driven with purpose, integrity and transparency.
2. Respectful involvement
We collaborate with the patient community in an open and transparent manner. We respect the independence and integrity of all patient organisations and patient representatives. We conduct all engagements with no undue influence on the positions and activities of our partners.
3. Meaningful collaboration
We seek collaboration with the patient community to identify the challenges and unmet needs and place diverse lived experiences at the center of a co-created response.
4. Longevity and sustainability
We value sustainable partnerships that foster ongoing dialogue and work towards driving long-term support and solutions that benefit people living with chronic diseases now and in the future.
5. Ethical and authentic
We lead our patient engagements using the highest ethical standards and ensure we always show up authentically and with clear intent.
We partner with and provide financial or non-financial support to patients and Patient Organisations in support of healthcare, medical education, research, or other social impact initiatives that are aligned with our therapeutic areas and benefit people, health systems and society at large.
