About the department
R&D Finance is part of Corporate Finance and is responsible for the financial management of R&D activities. You will be part of a highly ambitious and international team consisting of 15 dedicated employees. Our overall aim is to create impact through Finance Partnering to our stakeholders by combining strong financial competencies with a deep understanding of the business in which we operate. To do this we collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation. We invest significantly in developing our employees through e.g. close sparring, frequent feedback, and giving a high level of responsibility to individuals. You will act as a Finance Partner being responsible for the financial management of the R&D tangible investment portfolio ranging from investments in research lab equipment to establishments of new global R&D sites.
This is done in collaboration with the R&D and Corporate Finance organisation, managing different stakeholders at various levels of seniority and diverse backgrounds.
You will be responsible for financial planning, including senior management reporting, creating the financial basis for decision making to secure optimal allocation of Novo Nordisk R&D resources, while ensuring that the business needs are met on both a short and long-term horizon. You will do so working closely with senior management and project teams to ensure that the projects have the proper strategic fit as well as solid business cases. In your role, you will also participate as Steering Group member on key projects, and frequently update senior management on the status of the portfolio performance, e.g. through monthly management reporting and presentations to relevant governance fora. Finally, you are expected to be a key resource in further defining and developing the investment management discipline in R&D and Novo Nordisk by developing standards and implementing best practises for investment projects in close collaboration with key stakeholders. This includes streamlining of processes and leverage of our off-shore colleagues in Bangalore, India.
Succeeding in this role will require you to have a solid understanding of the business needs, the investment portfolio and the key projects. This requires you to be engaged in the projects and be able to challenge and support.
The person we are looking for holds a Master's degree in Business Administration or Economics with good results and preferably around 3 years of experience. You may have experience working with financial management preferably of investments projects.
You have strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of systems and structures. You have a quality mind set and attention to details while still keeping the overview of your deliverables. Furthermore, it is important that you have strong stakeholder management skills enabling you to build relationships at all levels of the organisation. You are a team player at heart and can balance the needs of the business with overall Novo Nordisk priorities.
Above all, you are proactive, have a strong drive and are curious to learn what drives the investment portfolio in R&D. You also are keen to continue to raise the bar for investment management in Novo Nordisk.
