Preservatives
It has been proven that growth hormone formulations with m-cresol are more painful than formulations with benzyl alcohol, and there is no difference between formulations with benzyl alcohol and formulations with phenol.5
Buffers
Injection with histidine-containing solvent has been shown to be less painful than citrate-buffered solvents.5
