Community engagement

Companies are expected to be good corporate citizens, contributing to society and striving to reduce any negative impacts resulting from their activities. The result of such behaviour is mutually rewarding: society benefits from the companies' investments and engagement, while for the companies there can be clear long-term business benefits to a community engagement strategy.

Community engagement is embedded in Novo Nordisk's history and values. It involves a respectful weighing of business interests against those of stakeholders and society, a balancing of short-term and long-term interests. Novo Nordisk’s community engagement can take many forms. It may be employees volunteering their time and resources for community work or it may be the company hosting a neighbourhood hearing on environmental concerns. It could also be company investments in infrastructure, or activities to raise awareness about healthy living and lifestyle-related health risks.

Novo Nordisk’s overall approach to community engagement is primarily focused on the company's main area of expertise, namely diabetes. Whether it is about implementing long-term sustainable solutions or responding to immediate natural disasters, Novo Nordisk is at the forefront of providing treatment and care for people with diabetes.
