We recognise that reporting is just one element in our communication with stakeholders. The objective of reporting is to enhance stakeholders’ valuation of the company, whether financially or in terms of reputation and trust.


Independent studies

Novo Nordisk commissions independent studies of the company’s annual reports, with particular focus on assessing the value of integrated reporting as a means of enhancing accountability to stakeholders. Findings and conclusions feed into the planning of subsequent reports as well as to the longer-term reporting strategy.

Exploring the boundaries

There are obvious benefits associated with integrated reporting, but also challenges. And there are dilemmas that remain to be resolved. For instance:

  • How to report on all issues considered material to diverse stakeholders, and yet maintain a readable and manageable reporting format.
  • How to be accountable to shareholders, in compliance with the current regulatory framework, and yet still meet other stakeholders’ information needs.
  • How to report in accordance with legal requirements and voluntary standards, and yet continue to innovate communication with stakeholders through the report format.

Novo Nordisk will continue to take part in the development of reporting and corporate accountability as an active voice in the debate.
