Global standard on social responsibility enters final round
Monday 17 May the 8th and final meeting on the upcoming ISO standard on social responsibility opens in Copenhagen.
Novo Nordisk has chaired the Danish mirror group during the five years of global negotiations and Executive Vice President Lise Kingo is looking forward to seeing this unique partnership endeavour come to fruition.
- We're proud to be part of the ISO26000 work. Though the road has sometimes been rocky, I am confident that the ISO26000 guidance standard will help advance socially responsible practices globally and come to be recognised as a milestone in the transition towards global sustainable development.
ISO 26000 is designed to provide practical guidance on how to incorporate social responsibility into any type of organisation be it private or public, for profit or not for profit. The guidance standard is being developed by representatives from industry, government, labour and consumer organisations, NGOs and others. 90 countries stand behind the new standard, including a strong participation of developing countries.
The guidance standard is expected to be published in September 2010.
