”For a company to work seriously with Supply Chain Management self-awareness and resources are required. In a globalised world it is not just the personnel who have to be flexible and prepared for change – this must also apply to the company and management in order to be able to cope with the tough competition in the market.”
Remember the elastic band
”In reality Supply Chain Management is a type of teamwork at company level. The individual department is not seen as an isolated unit but as an integral part of the whole organisation. The principle is that you are only as strong as the weakest link in the supply chain.
Supply Chain Management covers much more than the term ’logistics’. In an organisation such as Novo Nordisk ’logistics’ is not a broad enough term. It does not accommodate our values nor allow for the cultural challenges that are an integral part of a global company.
I am a very results-oriented person, but I have learnt that humility and empathy are also important qualifications. I have also learned that you cannot just transfer theory into practice. People will always influence the process. So, yes....theory is good, but like an elastic band.”
No lack of opportunities
”I have the feeling that if I do my job well enough, then I can become what I want. I can see that the opportunities are there. I can see that I will not just stagnate. And I can see that the company has plans for me, whether that is in finance, production or marketing or whether that might be in Denmark or abroad. I can become what I want.
I really am presented with challenges in my job. If people can see that you are competent and ambitious, then you are also given the responsibility if you ask for it. And can attain it quickly even if you are new and young. You can make rapid career advancements if you want to, and achieve the responsibility you want. There is no old-fashioned protocol fuss that you have to be a certain age or level of seniority in order to be able to advance in the organisation.”
