A professional challenge
”Working with accounting in Novo Nordisk is a big challenge. Not only do we work with triple bottom line, we are also a global organisation with activities in 80 different countries.
There are large cultural differences in regard to contractual practice, employee obligations and legal conditions – and it is our responsibility to service the subsidiary companies, so the figures are sent to us that we need in order to be able to produce good accounts.
Business ethics are also important to Novo Nordisk. And we do not just pay lip service to this philosophy. The words are put into practice. They are concretised – in targets and results, and thereby also in the accounts.
Backing up visions and objectives is a very big responsibility. How for example do you quantify such a concept as prevention?”

”Our accounts are a strategic business tool that senior management uses actively in dialogue with our partners – worldwide. And it has been decided that Novo Nordisk shall present the best annual accounts. No argument.
Therefore both time and resources are allocated to cultivating professional competence. And we have opted to have all the required accounting expertise in-house.”
