Strategic R&D
”My job is to drive and coordinate cLEAN rollout across R&D.”
Grounded in management
”Novo Nordisk has forged a strategy for using Lean principles and methods, and that strategy is grounded in its management. It is important for me, because as I see it, the flow is top-down. The management’s appreciation and support for the work is a must if we are to succeed.
I act as a partner to the line management and assist them in formulating the company’s objectives and drawing up strategies detailing how best to achieve them.
It’s important for me to be instrumental in generating results. The goal is.... not the be-all for me, but it is extremely important. If you don’t have goals, you never know when you’ve succeeded.”
Staff involvement
”Lean consists of a number of simple principles and tools that everyone can understand. That appeals to me. If the process control tools are more complicated than the problems that need to be solved, you don’t get anywhere.
That’s also what makes it possible to get staff involved. And the staffs have plenty of good ideas. After all, they’re the ones who know what works and what doesn’t. It’s just a matter of being receptive to those ideas and ensuring they are properly dealt with.
80% of all the good ideas we get from our staff are what we call ”just do it”. In other words, ideas that don’t require large-scale projects but can be put into effect without further ado. And together they have a massive impact.”
