I switched from syringes to the NovoPen® 3 about four years ago, and it has made my life much easier. When using a syringe, I had to draw it up and use it immediately. But the cartridges containing the insulin stay in my NovoPen® 3 for a week.
It used to take me 5 minutes to inject, but now it takes 5 seconds. Because it’s so easy, I now inject 4 times a day instead of 2. This gives me more flexibility in my day-to-day life. If I want to go swimming in the evening, I simply adjust how much insulin I take in the afternoon.
And people don't know what it is. It just looks like a normal pen. I use a silver one (because it’s more stylish!) during the day, and a blue one for my night-time insulin.
