The Business IT Graduate Programmes

Novo Nordisk’s Graduate Programme in Business IT is a great opportunity for future IT leaders to join a fast-growing, successful, international company. As a Novo Nordisk graduate, you will gain broad knowledge of how technology is used to enable business processes in a large organisation – and you will be part of an international community of professionals working to defeat diabetes. 

Structure of the Programme
The programme is designed as a two year programme comprised of four six-month rotations. Three rotations will be based in the corporate headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark, and one rotation will take place in one of our global affiliates. After completing the programme you will embark on a career e.g. as project manager, within business consulting, in a specialist unit or taking steps towards a your first leadership role. This could be based in Denmark, however your broad network and international experience from the programme will enable global career opportunities.

The Business IT Graduate Programme will give you valuable project management skills and an understanding of IT strategy and planning. You will learn to take ownership of projects while building an international network of colleagues.

The global IT organisation is an integrated part of the business all the way from project idea to implementation and into system maintenance. We are continuously implementing new technologies and solutions to improve business processes and support the growth of Novo Nordisk. In addition we are responsible for running and maintaining the portfolio of large global IT systems and managing the infrastructure that provides access to the essential IT tools for our more than 30.000 users.   

The Business IT Graduate Programme will give you valuable experience in several core IT fields, e.g. project management, system management, infrastructure management, governance and strategy. You will learn to take ownership of projects while building a strong network with global colleagues. Requirements

We are looking for people with the ability to bridge technology with business needs. You must have a top of class master's degree e.g. within Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, and have a genuine interest in information technologies. The ideal candidate has no or very little work experience (0-1 years). You have an international mind-set and a passion for learning. We are looking for people who are performance-oriented, outgoing and willing to learn from others.

A good foundation

Base Camp is the perfect start for my career as it gives me the opportunity to learn about the company and its business processes from different angles as I rotate to different jobs. And through the graduate network I hear about areas of the company that aren't directly related to my role. To get to know the company from the grass roots is invaluable.

The exposure I get to employees from all over the company is very rewarding. People here are very smart, focused and passionate about what they do – and this rubs off on me! My colleagues go out of their way to make me feel comfortable – for example they will speak English even in informal settings so that I don't feel isolated. When the people around you are good at what they do you can't help but want to do your best.

Learning from management

As graduates we get more opportunities to network with top management than other employees do. Not only do we talk about the business and projects, we've also had the chance to ask their advice and hear about their career paths. The chief financial officer recently told us how important he thinks it is to have a good manager. I agree, and I am very lucky to have a manager who is also like a mentor to me. He has lots of experience and so this is a great opportunity for me to learn from him. I'm also able to ask his advice on personal development issues like where to go on my next rotation.

My manager told me to always be myself, and this is something I would pass on to other new graduates. The diversity and personal touch that every employee brings to their work is definitely appreciated here!

Great motivation

I joined Base Camp with an open mind, determined to take whatever opportunities came my way. I knew that Novo Nordisk was a well-respected company and the leader in diabetes care. I've since learnt that its vision that “a job here is never just a job” is very true and totally describes what it is like to work at Novo Nordisk. There is a very healthy work/life balance and a strong emphasis on personal development. This is a company that is modest about its achievements and I've found that employees have this same modesty. There is a great focus on achieving results and being the best at what we do, but there is no arrogance here.

I feel every day that I am contributing to a team that is making the company a success – which ultimately helps people with diabetes live better lives. That is great motivation to get out of bed every morning.
