Products and services in diabetes care

Dansk version

Diabetes is a disorder caused by decreased production or no production of insulin, or by the body's decreased ability to use insulin - which means that blood sugar levels are not controlled. Type 1 diabetes is diagnosed most often in children and young adults, but can occur at all ages. In type 1 diabetes, the beta cells in the pancreas are destroyed, and so no insulin, or too little insulin, is produced. To keep blood sugar levels normal, daily injections of insulin are required, for life.

Type 2 diabetes typically occurs in adults over 40 years of age. In type 2 diabetes the pancreas produces some insulin, but not enough for its needs, or the insulin is not used effectively in the body. As the onset of type 2 diabetes occurs gradually, it often goes unnoticed for years.

Novo Nordisk offers the broadest portfolio of diabetes products in the industry and an extensive range of user-friendly pen devices for injecting insulin.

We have also developed a range of diabetes services, including educational and training materials for both healthcare professionals and people with diabetes.
