Changing diabetes

Changing the future of diabetes

Novo Nordisk is dedicated to changing diabetes - how it is treated, how it is viewed around the world, and how the future of this disease plays out.

As a world leader in diabetes care, we feel that this is our responsibility…and it is a goal that cannot be achieved through science alone. We have to affect change at every level - in science and research, in humanitarianism and outreach efforts, in education, and in government and public policy worldwide.

We are committed to defeating this disease in our lifetime, and the resources we dedicate to diabetes research are unparalleled in the industry. We can win, but we can only win together.

Changing how we treat diabetes

Novo Nordisk was one of the first companies to introduce insulin to the world, and since that time we have helped to change how diabetes is treated.

Our product line is without equal. Dependable insulin therapy like NovoRapid®, Levemir®, and NovoMix® help patients to regain control and normalcy in their lives. FlexPen®, NovoPen®, and other patient-friendly devices demonstrate our initiative for finding solutions for people living with diabetes.

Changing the way we look at diabetes

Research and development alone is not enough. To reach our goal of defeating diabetes as quickly as possible, we need the cooperation and support of public policy around the world.

The World Diabetes Foundation (WDF), launched by Novo Nordisk in 2001, supports the prevention and treatment of diabetes where it is needed most. Providing education, healthcare infrastructure, drug procurement and distribution, and ongoing monitoring and mentoring of patients, this independent non-profit organization has so far supported 42 projects and impacted 22 million people worldwide.

We continue to work with policymakers and healthcare systems to effectively address the growing threat of diabetes in the general population through our National Diabetes Programmes.

Changing the way we work with diabetes

Novo Nordisk is committed to pursuing its business goals as a profitable enterprise in a way that is also socially and environmentally responsible. Our Triple Bottom Line approach to doing business ensures that we remain balanced: it’s not just about making a profit, but as much about how profits are earned.

This kind of effort has to start from within. TakeAction! is an employee volunteer programme that includes volunteering in developing countries, fundraising, environmental outreach, and the sharing of best practices among affiliates.

Changing the way we live with diabetes

At Novo Nordisk, nothing is more important to us than helping to improve the lives of people living with diabetes. Our job is to inspire hope and deliver real solutions that fit the way people want to live.

DAWN (Diabetes Attitudes, Wishes, and Needs) is a global programme led by Novo Nordisk to improve psychosocial support for people with diabetes. DAWN aims to empower healthcare providers and patients to put the emphasis back on the person with the disease, instead of a rigidly clinical approach to treatment.

Changing diabetes

We can enable people with diabetes to live their lives on their own terms…

We can embrace the advancements that our future research will bring…

We can stay financially competitive without losing our ideals…

And we can help people in everything we do.

Novo Nordisk is leading the fight against diabetes. Defeating diabetes is our passion and our business. Facing this growing epidemic together, we know we can reach our goal to change diabetes, and even defeat it, in our lifetime.
