UN Political Process
The campaign for the UN Resolution utilised diplomatic means to engage Member States in the United Nations in order to secure a majority vote in the UN General Assembly, which led to the successful adoption of the UN Resolution on diabetes, on 20 December 2006.
Objectives with this part of the campaign were to engage as many Member States as possible in order to gather momentum for the UN Resolution. Target groups were national governments and their permanent representations at the UN (New York and Geneva).
To raise awareness of the burden of diabetes in children and adolescents among policymakers and other major stakeholders (UNICEF, WHO). This was achieved by supporting the IDF Youth Ambassador Programme and the Novo Nordisk Youth Panel.
