Health Care
Discovers, develops, manufactures and markets pharmaceutical products and services that provide significant benefits to patients, the medical profession and society.

  • Diabetes Care - world leader in insulin and diabetes care.
  • Women's Health Care - third largest manufacturer of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) products. HRT products are used for the treatment of symptoms in connection with the menopause and the prevention of osteoporosis.
  • Growth Disorders - in terms of sales, Novo Nordisk is among the world's largest producers of human growth hormone. Human growth hormone has traditionally been used for treating growth hormone deficiency in children but has in recent years been proved effective for a number of other disorders.
  • Other health care products - for the treatment of depression and haemophilia with inhibitor reaction.
     

Enzyme Business
Discovers, develops, manufactures and markets industrial enzymes that provide biological solutions to industrial problems. Novo Nordisk
is the world leader in industrial enzymes and our customers can be found in a variety of industries, the largest being the detergent, starch and textile industries.

  • Detergent enzymes - for removal of various kinds of stains from clothes at low washing temperatures, thereby saving energy.
  • Starch enzymes - for the production of dextrose, fructose and speciality syrups for the baking, confectionery and soft drink industries. Enzymes replace acids.
  • Textile enzymes - for bio-polishing of cotton fabrics, stonewashing of denim garments, bleach clean-up, removal of starch from woven materials and degumming of silk. Enzymes replace harsh chemicals and save energy.
  • Other industries - for alcohol, animal feed, baking, brewing, fats & oils, leather, personal care, protein, pulp & paper, and wine & juice.
